Rivard Art Education, with the support of the 21st Century Learners Center Grant, is thrilled to announce “Lost in Translation- A Student Skateboard Art Exhibition”. High school student’s original skateboard art from FAIR School Downtown, Quora Education Center, and all over the Twin Cities will be on display in this unique, culturally inspired art show.
“Lost in Translation”, a show title that was conceptualized by the students, represents the unique transitional period of these young artists. Tasked with creating original works of art on skateboards the common link of conversation was about the stories and messages being translated through the art. Does art tell a story? How do we translate that story? It all culminates in an exhibition that brings youth culture, fine art, skateboarding, and self expression to a gallery setting at Cal Surf.
The stage will be set at the perfect venue for such an ambitious display of youth talent, iconic Twin Cities Skateshop Cal Surf. Cal Surf is one of the most respected skateboard retailers in Minnesota and plays host to the Cal Surf Gallery, a second floor project space and art gallery that has hosted multiple projects, and has continually been the gracious host of Rivard Art exhibitions.
Please join us in supporting the youth arts, skateboarding, and the most talented young adults in the Twin Cities on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 from 6pm-8:00pm at Cal Surf!
